닫힌 마음과 열린 마음
본문: 이사야 61:1-4 요한복음 1:6-8,22-23 데살로니가전서 5:16-18

Title: Closed Heart and Open Heart
Scripture: Isaiah 61:1-4, John 1:6-8, 22-23 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
When the Israel people had been conquered by Babylon, exiled, and had verged on despair,
Isaiah, a prophet, brought words of encouragement. “ You will be free. You will go back to
your home land.” There would be the joy of returning from exile, restoration, and healing.
In the midst of the ruin, the exiles found in Jerusalem that there was promise of justice and
new beginnings.
It was a high calling to celebrate in the face of trouble, persecution, or loss, and with
opposition from others. It took courage to expect joy in the midst of circumstances that were
less than hopeful.
Isaiah’s words were given to a people building on the ruins of a former life and time. This
passage had been an inspiration for people who had laboured for justice and peace in
different times and cultures.
When have there been times when you rebuild your life on the ruins of something else?
Where are the new beginnings of promise in your life and in the life of our community?
In John’s gospel people asked John, the Baptist:
Who are you?
What do you say about yourself?
John freely admits that he is neither the Messiah, nor Elijah.
“ I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness. Make straight the way of the Lord.”
He calls the leaders and the people to prepare themselves to rejoice and to participate in the
new work of God’s reign coming in Jesus.
We are called to point Jesus as the light of the world.
We are called to prepare for Christ’s coming with joy.
Even though the members of Thessalonica church faced social pressure and persecution
because of their beliefs, Paul offers the hope-filled promise that their life together in Christ
will strengthen and encourage them.

Therefore, he calls them to rejoice always, because joy brings peace,
to pray without ceasing, and
to give thanks in all circumstances.
There is a word, partnership(Koinonia), which means sharing with someone or something,
and it usually stresses a common bond in Jesus Christ, a participation in and with Christ that
establishes a mutual community. It focuses on our relationship in Jesus Christ and with one
another in service.
God has invited us to Jesus Christ. We are invited in order that together with others we may
join God’s action in the world.
We are commissioned to share God’s economics to householding, to care for creation, to
participate in God's mission of creating a more truly human society of justice, liberation,and
joy for all.
Marcus Borg wrote a book, “The Heart of Christianity.”
If we have a closed heart, we do not see or hear lacking gratitude, compassion, and joy.
But, an open heart goes together with seeing, gratitude, and compassion and joy .
Christian life is about a new heart, an open heart, and a heart of compassion.
We are transferred from hopelessness to hope,
from war/division to peace,
from hatred to love,
from sorrow/sadness to joy
Jesus is the reason we are in the church today!
Go and tell people, who he is,
what he is doing, and
God’s work through us in the world.

이스라엘이 바벨론에 정복당하고, 많은 사람이 포로로 잡혀가며, 절망중에 있을때에
예언자 이사야가 그들에게 용기를 줍니다: “너희는 자유하게 되리라. 그리고 고국으로
돌아가게 되리라.” 포로생활로부터 조국으로 돌아갈뿐 아니라, 파괴되고 잃은 것들을
회복하며, 치유하게되는 기쁨을 약속합니다. 정의와 새로운 시작의 약속이 그들을 기다리고
있었습니다.
여러가지 문제와 박해, 온갖 반대와 상실에 직면해 있는 이들의 상황속에서는 아주 축하할
일이었읍니다. .이런 상황에 처해있으면서도 기뻐할수 있는 용기를 주었읍니다.
이사야의 말은 완전히 폐허가 된 상태에서부터 새로운것들을 이루어 나가야하는 이들에게는
큰 용기가 되었읍니다.
혹시 여러분의 삶에서 무언가 다 파괴된 상태로부터 새로운것을 이루느라고 애쓰던 기억이
있읍니까? 여러분이나 우리 믿음의 공동체의 삶에서 어디에서부터 새로운 약속의 시작을
해보았나요?
요한복음에 보면, 군중들이 세례요한에게, “ 당신은 누구이며, 자신이 무엇하는 사람이라고
생각하는가?”라고 질문합니다. 세례요한은 자기는 메시야도 아니고 엘리야도 아니라고
대답합니다. “ 나는 단지 주가 오시는 길을 제대로 마련하라고 광야에서 외치는 한 소리”라고
설명합니다.
그는 종교 지도자들이나 군중들에게 예수를 통해 오시는 하나님의 나라를 준비하며
동참하게되는 일을 기뻐하라고 말합니다.
우리는 이 세상의 빛으로 오시는 예수님을 전파하도록 부름받았읍니다. 우리는 기쁨으로
그리스도의 오심을 준비하도록 부름 받았읍니다.
데살로니가 교회 교우들은 그들의 신앙때문에 교회 안밖으로 압력과 박해를 받았읍니다.
바울은 그들이 그리스도와 함께 살면, 힘을 얻고 용기를 갖게된다고 희망의 약속을 전합니다.
따라서 항상기뻐하고, 쉬지말고 기도하며, 모든 경우에 감사하는 삶을 살라고 격려합니다.

동반자(코이노니아)라는 말이 있는데, 이는 누구와 무엇을 함께 나눔을 의미하는데, 대개는
예수 그리스도와 하나가되어 그와 함께 서로를 위해 그리고 공동체를 위해 일하는 것을
의미합니다.
하나님께서 우리를 그리스도에게로 인도했으며, 우리는 이세상에서 하나님께서 하시는
활동에 남들과 함께 동참합니다. 우리는 참된 정의와 자유, 모두를 위한 기쁨의 사회를
이루시는 하나님의 선교를 위해 같이 일합니다.
“기독교의 가장 핵심” 이라는 책을 마르커스 보그(Marcus Borg)가 썼읍니다. 이 책에서 그는
다음과 같은 말을합니다:
우리가 만일 마음을 닫고 있으면, 감사와 열정, 그리고 기쁨이 없기때문에 볼것을 제대로
보지못하며, 바로 들어야하는 것도 듣지못한다. 그러나 마음을 열어 놓으면, 볼것을 제대로
보게도 되고 감사, 열정, 그리고 기쁨을 갖게된다. 크리스챤의 삶이란 새로운 마음, 열린 마음,
열정이 넘치는 마음을 내포한다.
우리는 희망이 없는 상태에서 희망을 갖게되고,
전쟁과 찢어짐의 상황으로부터 평화로 전환되며,
증오가 가득찬 마음에서부터 사랑의 마음으로 바뀌고,
슬프고 애처로운 심정이 기쁨으로 변화하는 경험을 하게된다.
오늘 우리가 교회에 나오고 교회를 이루는 것은 예수님때문입니다.
여러분, 세상에 나가서 많은 사람들에게 예수님이 누구시고, 그가 무엇을 하고 있으며,
하나님께서 우리를 통해 이 세상에서 하시는 역사에 대해 같이 나눌뿐 아니라, 온 세상
사람들에게 외치십시오.
