Title: Partners in MInistry
Scripture: John 15:1-8 Acts 8:26-31, 35-38
“Get ready and go south to the road that goes from Jerusalem to Gaza.”
An angel’s order to Philip to do an absurd thing at noon.
Philip rose and went. He is obedient, taking no initiative on his own.
He meets an Ethiopian. Philip responds to Ethiopia's questions about what he is reading.
He is willing to be instructed by Philip in “the good news of Jesus.”
He beseeches Philip to interpret for him and then to baptize him. In the unhindered baptism
of this man the evangelistic thrust has moved from Jew to Samaritan, out to the boundaries
of the world, at last to the threshold of the gentiles.
As we see in John 15:1-8 we are to abide in Jesus, the vine, remaining in his words and
love. Branches of the true vine create communities where God’s love flourishes in them.
As Jesus’ followers move out into the world, the Christian community grows. We are called
to invite others into conversation that is respectful and results in mutual rejoicing and
liberation.
Today, we celebrate the 57th anniversary and ministry of our church.
The church is the physical and spiritual extension of Jesus Christ,
and is called as a basis of hope and healing.
It is also a centre of life and communities surrounding areas.
We call ourselves a gathering, sharing, and witnessing community.
We gather together for worship, friendship, service, and giving.
We are a community of faith worshipping with Spirit and truth.
We are a community of love encouraging and comforting each other.
We are a community of disciples training with God’s words and prayer.
We are a community of service helping neighbouring communities.
We are a community of mission with diversity and inclusiveness.
We will continue to work for these visions and goals.
In 1997, former Toronto Korean UC published a book,
“30 years history of Toronto Korea UC” (1967-1997).
On p.158 it says,
“The life of immigrants is not easy, it makes us tired. But there is a special dream which is
always alive even though we go through difficult situations as immigrants. Without having

clear vision the dream will disappear. The vision will become reality with strong willpower,
cooperation, and determination.
Believing that God’s presence was with us for the last 30 years is the only power that allows
our church to march toward the future.”
We try to grow together through sharing the love of Jesus Christ,
through expressing our joy together, sharing the pain of our neighbours,
listening to each other, respecting and accepting each other.
Let us work to be a stepping stone rather than becoming a stumbling block.
Let us have risking faith, daring hope, bold discipleship, and daring justice.
“ I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?”(Isaiah 43:19)
“If anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see,
everything has become new! “(2 Corinthians 5:17)
“Remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”(Matthew 28: 20)

“여기를 떠나 예루살렘에서 가자로 내려가는 남쪽 길로 가라.”
주의 천사가 필립보에게 일러주었읍니다. 그는 일러준대로 길을 가다가 에디오피아 사람
하나를 만났읍니다. 필립보가 만난사람은 에디오피아의 고관이었읍니다.
필립보는 그 고관이 읽고있는 이사야 예언서의 내용을 자세히 설명해주었읍니다. 그는
성서에 있는 여러가지 말씀을 설명해주면서 예수에 관한 복음을 전하였읍니다.
그 고관은 필립보로부터 세례도 받았읍니다. 이제는 복음의 영역이 유대사람으로부터
사마리아인들에게로 그리고 훨씬 그 영역을 넓혀서 다른 지역의 이방인들에게도 전파되는
세계화의 계기를 마련하게 되었읍니다.
요한복음 15장에서 보듯이 우리는 포도나무에 붙어있는 가지처럼 예수에게서 그의 말씀과
사랑을 받으며 살아갑니다. 그리고 하나님의 사랑이 넘치는 공동체를 만들어갑니다.
예수를 따르는 사람들이 세계로 뻗어 나갈때 크리스챤의 공동체는 자라게됩니다. 우리는
사람들을 만나고 서로 존중하면서 함께 기쁨과 자유함을 나누도록 노력합니다.
오늘 우리는 창립 57주년을 맞아서 하나님께서 지금까지 우리에게 허락하신 목회를 함께
축하합니다. 교회는 실제 눈에 보이면서도 영적인 예수그리스도의 연장입니다. 희망과
치유의 근거지입니다. 또한 지역 공동체의 삶과 활동의 중심이라고 할수있읍니다.

우리는 함께 모이고, 모든것들을 서로 나누며, 증언자로서 살아가는 공동체입니다.
우리는 함께 모여 예배드리고, 서로 교제하며, 봉사와 헌신을 합니다.
우리는 영과 진리로 예배드리는 신앙의 공동체입니다.
우리는 서로 격려하고 위로를 나누는 사랑의 공동체입니다.
우리는 하나님의 말씀과 기도로 배우며 훈련받는 제자들의 공동체입니다.
우리는 이웃들을 돕는 봉사와 섬김의 공동체입니다.
우리는 다양성을 가지면서 남을 포용하는 선교의 공동체입니다.
우리는 이러한 비젼과 목표를 위해 계속 노력할 것입니다.
1997년에 토론토한인연합교회가 창립 30주년을 기념해서 “토론토한인연합교회 30년사”를
출판했읍니다.(1967-1997)

그 책의 158쪽에보면 다음과같은 글이 있읍니다.
“이민의 삶은 고단하다.
그러나 그 고단함 속에서도 이민의 삶에는 독특한 꿈이 살아 숨쉰다.
그 꿈은 확고한 비젼으로 설계되지 않으면, 꿈으로 있다가 사라지고 만다.
그러기에 그 비젼은 강한 의지와 협동과 추진력으로만 구현된다.
하나님께서 지난 30년간 이 교회와 늘 함께 해 오셨다는 그 믿음만이 이교회를 전진시킬수
있는 유일한 힘이다. “
우리 모두는 예수 그리스도의 사랑을 함께 나누며 자라기를 바랍니다.
함께 기뻐하고, 이웃의 고통을 서로 나누면서, 또 서로의 이야기를 듣고,
남을 존중하며 받아들이면서 다같이 성장하기를 원합니다.
남에게 걸림돌이 되기보다는 이웃을 위한 디딤돌이 되도록 노력하십시다.
위험을 감수하면서도 지키는 믿음을 가지도록 하십시다.
남들이 감히 생각하지 못하더라도 희망을 가지십시다.
자신있게 제자직을 실천하십시다.
용기를 가지고 정의를 위해 사십시다.
보아라, 내가 이제 새 일을 시작하였다. 이미 싹이 돋았는데 그것이 보이지않느냐?

누구든지 그리스도를 믿으면 새 사람이 됩니다. 낡은 것은 사라지고 새것이 나타났읍니다.
(고린도후서 5:17)
내가 세상 끝날까지 항상 너희와 함께 있겠다.(마태복음 28:20)
