Title : Winds of Change
Scripture: Acts 2: 1-8, 14, 16-21
There are three great festivals in Judaism: Passover, Harvest Festival, and Festival of
Shelters.
Passover is an event that happened during the Exodus preparation from Egypt. The Exodus
event is understood as the beginning of the birth of the so-called, “chosen people.” The
Israel people continue to celebrate the Passover since the Exodus.
The Harvest Festival which is also called the Feast of Weeks or Pentecost. It happens on
the 5th day from the 1st harvest. The Festival of Shelters begins on the 15th day of the 7th
month for 7 days.
The Pentecost is the event through which the birth of the church happened.
The first group of people of the church gathering were women and men, 12 disciples, and
many other unnamed and faithful followers of Jesus.
All received the Holy Spirit and were given the gifts of speaking in other languages. The Holy
Spirit did not discriminate against people based on human standards.
The second group were those living in Jerusalem, the immigrants who emigrated from the
area of the Roman Empire. They were people with multilingual backgrounds.
Pentecost gives power to Jesus’ followers to speak the languages of the world and to tell the
gospel in every language. On the day of Pentecost they became a community of faith with
a divine plan to multiculturalism.
The Holy Spirit brings people together in understanding. The Holy Spirit comes to everyone,
the intellectual and the unsophisticated. They all speak the same language, getting rid of
their class distinctions, collecting money together and giving it out to people. They have new
freedom. The scattered people come together and are gathered by the Holy Spirit.
At the feast of Pentecost we celebrate unity in diversity, a new community with a new
language. We are many but we are one.
Do we really understand each person’s language, situation, and each other’s voices that
should be understood by the Holy Spirit? Do we love those who are different from us? Do
we show compassion and generosity to others and ourselves?
We are given Spirit, gifts of life, empowerment, vision, and strength as we proclaim God's
message of love to all people.

We need the winds of change.
We feel the winds of change.

유대교에는 세가지 큰 축제가 있읍니다. 즉, 과월절, 추수의 축제, 초막절이 있읍니다.
과월절은 유대백성이 애굽을 탈출하는 준비를 하면서 죽임을 당하지 않고 애굽을 탈출한
일을 축하하는 축제입니다.
추수절 축제는 새로 추수한 햇곡식을 하나님께 드리는 축제입니다.
초막절이란 땅에서 난 소출을 걷어드리면서 조상들이 광야에서 천막을 치며 살았던 일을
기억해서 7일간 초막에서 사는 축제입니다.
오순절은 교회가 새로 생기는 사건이 일어난 특별한 날입니다. 초기에 교회가 생길때에 모인
사람들은 많은 여성들, 12 제자들, 그리고 이름은 알려지지않았지만 성실히 예수를 따르던
사람들입니다.
한데 모인 모든 사람들이 성령을 받고 서로 다른 말을 하는 선물을 받았읍니다. 성령의
선물은 인간의 기준에 근거해서 사람을 차별하지 않았읍니다.
함께 모인 또 다른 사람들은 로마가 통치하는 여러 다른 지역에서 이민을 와서 예루살렘에서
살고있던 사람들입니다. 그들은 여러 다른 언어를 사용하는 사람들이었읍니다.
오순절은 예수를 따르는 사람들에게 세상의 여러 다른 언어를 말할수 있는 능력을
주었읍니다. 그들은 또한 여러나라 말로 복음을 전할 수 있었읍니다. 그들은
오순절에 복합문화주의를 이루시려는 하나님의 계획을 지닌 믿음의 공동체가 되었읍니다.
성령께서는 사람들을 모아서 서로 이해하도록 하셨읍니다. 하나님의 성령은 지식이 있는
사람이나 지식이 부족한 사람이나 차별없이 모든 사람에게 오셨읍니다. 그들의 사회적
지위의 높낮이에 상관없이 모두 같은 말을 할 수 있었습니다.
그들은 서로 돈을 모아 필요한 사람들에게 나누어 주기도 했습니다. 그들은 새로운 자유를
얻었읍니다. 흩어져서 살던 사람들이 성령의 도움으로 모두 같이 모일 수 있었읍니다.
우리는 이 오순절에 다양성 가운데서도 모두가 하나됨을 축하합니다. 새로운 언어를
사용하는 새로운 공동체를 기뻐합니다. 우리는 많고 다양하지만, 하나입니다.

우리는 참으로 다른 사람들의 언어와 상황, 그들의 소리를 바로 이해하려고 합니까?
우리와는 다른면이 있는 사람들을 사랑하려고 노력하나요?
우리는 남들에게 열정과 관용을 베풀며 살고 있나요?
우리는 성령을 통해서 소중한 생명을 선물로, 능력과 비젼을 또한 선물로 받았읍니다.
이런것들을 통해서 우리는 하나님의 사랑의 메세지를 모든 사람들에게 선포합니다.
우리는 변화의 바람이 필요합니다.
우리는 변화의 바람을 느낍니다.
