부활절, 사망권세를 깨트리셨습니다
로마서 6:8 – 10

부활절 사건을 한마디로 표현한다면 우리 주님께서 사망권세를 깨트리신 사건이라고 말할 수 있습니다. 주님께서는 악의 세력에게 붙잡히시고 죽임당하셨습니다. 이 세상에는 여전히 우리의 삶을 짓누르는 죽음의 권세가 있습니다. 전쟁/테러/폭력/갈등, 굶주림/빈부격차, 자연파괴/환경오염이 우리의 삶을 망가트리고 있습니다. 그러나 그들이 우리의 생명을 빼앗아갈 수는 없습니다. 주님께서 사망권세를 이기시고 부활하셨기 때문입니다. 하나님께서 예수 그리스도를 죽은 자들 가운데서 일으키셨습니다. 사도바울은 로마서에서 이렇게 말했습니다. “그리스도께서 죽은 자 가운데서 살아나셨으니 죽음이 그를 더 이상 지배할 수 없었습니다. 하나님께서 우리 편이시면 누가 우리를 대적하겠습니까?” 진실로 그렇습니다. 이 세상의 환난/곤고/박해/기근, 굶주림/헐벗음, 칼/죽음/권력이 우리를 향한 하나님의 사랑을 끊어놓을 수는 없을 것입니다. 사랑하는 성도 여러분, 빛이 어둠보다 강하고 생명이 죽음보다 강하고 진리가 불의보다 강합니다. 아무 것도 두려워하지 마십시오. 하나님께서 사망권세를 깨트리셨습니다. 우리는 부활의 자녀요 부활의 증인입니다. 어둠과 두려움과 고통 중에 있는 이들에게 하나님의 부활능력을 선포하며 이 땅을 살아가는 우리들 모두가 되어야 할 줄로 믿습니다. 아멘.
Easter, Jesus broke the power of death
Romans 6:8 – 10
Paul said in his letter to the Romans, “Since Christ was raised from the dead, death no longer has dominion over him.” In a world where death is present all the time, where there is war between nations all the time, where food is wasted at a horrendous rate while people are starving somewhere, where climate change caused by the corporations and economic systems that we have created, is killing off entire species, the resurrection of Christ says, “No. Death has no dominion.” Paul also said, “No one will separate us from the love of Christ. Even hardship, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword, or anything, will not break God’s love for us.” Resurrection is the power coming not from us, but from heaven to show that God is alive. It makes all the life under the ground break through the cold land of winter, and make the truth visible out of the darkness. We believe that light is stronger than darkness, justice is stronger than injustice, and life is stronger than death. Truly we are called to proclaim the resurrection power of God to those who are in darkness and fear. May the power of the risen Christ, who overcame the power of death and rose again, be with you all. May the power of God, who has raised the Christ from the darkness, be with you all. Amen.
