예수님이 토론토에 오실 때
신명기 18:15-20 마가복음1:21-28

Title: When Jesus comes to Toronto
Scripture: Deuteronomy 18:15-20 Mark 1:21-28
Moses recalls the great events of the past 40 years .He appeals to the people to remember
how God led them through wilderness and to be obedient and loyal to God.
Moses reviews the 10 commandments and emphasizes the meaning of the first
commandment.
He reminds people of the meaning of God’s covenant with them.
Joshua is commissioned as the next leader of God’s people.
Moses knew that his time was coming. God told him, “It’s time for a transition.”
People were quite worrying so much about their situation and future without Moses.
“God will raise you for a prophet from among the people.”
God chose Samuel and through ( the search committee?) search process Samuel anointed
Saul and later David.
The Prophet is the one who is called by God and who calls people, who is aware of the acts
and history of God, and who shares the history and the struggle of the people.
God will not leave the people without a prophet after Moses.
God says ” I will put my word in the mouth of the prophet.”
God selects prophets from the community. They stand between God and the people. They
speak with divine authority about the revelation which they receive from God. They proclaim
God’s word.
The authority of the prophet is grounded in the true utterance of the divine word. The
charismatic power of the prophet is an antidote for the homeless and despair among the
people who have lost the historic and concrete moorings of their nations and their people.
God moves and speaks to people about divine-human relationship. God continues
interactions with people
God accommodates us in our weakness. God’s word, even when it is painful, is for our well-
being.

A prophet is a member of the community and is firmly rooted in Israel's covenant history.
God holds us accountable to the prophetic words.
When Jesus comes to Toronto today he will ask questions like:
In this 21st century where have all the prophets gone?
Where is the voice crying in the wilderness that changes the world?
What is the prophetic ministry for and with the Alpha faith community, your congregation
today?
VU 701 says, “ What does the Lord require of us?”
-justice, kindness, walk humbly with God. To seek justice, love kindness, and walk humbly
with God.
In Mark’s gospel, a man with an unclean spirit, approached Jesus when he was teaching in
a synagogue, and shouted. Jesus in driving out unclean spirits and liberating the socially
unacceptable, he demonstrates God’s desire for creation’s wholeness.
Jesus calls and teaches us the way of living and wants us to be instruments of peace and
healing in our world.
Let us carry the word of God to people who witness in the world.
Do not worry about what to say. Open to the scripture and allow God to speak through us to
those who need to heart God’s word.
John Spong, who wrote a book , “Rescuing the bible from Fundamentalism” says that our
experience of the power of Jesus is an experience of the power of love and life.
We experience the divine life-giving love through the life and power of Jesus.
To be a christian is to live one's life in freedom and with the power of Jesus. Jesus reveals
God in loving totally, and living fully.
We have to open our eyes, or help each other to open our eyes, to a deeper reality, to see
what lies beyond what we can see with the naked eyes.
Let’s practice love, mercy, and care;
Let’s try to live a life of understanding and accepting each other, and sharing with others;
Let’s try to do justice and walk humbly with God, with the power that we receive from Jesus
Christ.
Jesus is coming to Toronto even today.

모세는 지난 40년 동안 일어났던 일들을 백성들에게 상기시켰습니다. 광야를 통과하는
과정에서 하나님께서 이 백성을 어떻게 인도했는가를 설명하면서 하나님께 순종하고
충성할것을 호소했지요.
모세는 10계명을 설명하면서 특히 첫번째 계명의 의미를 강조했읍니다. 하나님께서 이
백성과 맺은 계약의 의미가 무엇인가를 상기시켰지요. 그리고 자기 다음으로 이 백성을 이끌
지도자로서 여호수아를 지명했읍니다.
모세는 자기의 때가 다 되었음을 알았습니다. 하나님은 모세에게 이제는 변화를 해야할
때라고 말씀하셨읍니다. 이스라엘 백성들은 모세 없이 어떻게 자기네끼리 생활할수
있겠는가하고 염려했지요. 그러나 모세는 하나님께서 새로운 지도자를 보내주실것이라고
했읍니다. 하나님께서는 그후 여러 지도자들과 예언자들을 보내주셨지요. 그러면서 자신과
백성들 사이에 필요한 관계를 계속하셨읍니다.
특별히 우리가 어려움이나 고통가운데 있을때 그는 우리를 도우시지요.
만일 예수님께서 오늘 우리가 살고 있는 토론토에 오신다면 아마도 다음의 질문을 하시리라
생각됩니다:
이 21세기에 현대 예언자들이 모두 어디에서 무엇을 하고있는가?
이 세상을 바꾸기 위해 외치는 광야의 소리들을 과연 어디에서 들을수 있는가?
오늘 알파 연합교회에서 진행되고 있는 예언자적인 목회와 선교는 과언 무었이라고
말할수 있는가?
연합교회 찬송가 701장에 보면, 하나님께서 우리에게 요구하시는것이 무엇인가?
그것은 정의, 친절, 사랑, 하나님과 함께 겸손히 걷는 것이라고 말합니다.
마가복음에보면, 현대의 표현으로는 정신질환이 있는 어떤사람이 예수께 다가와서
소리를지르고 주위를 요란스럽게했읍니다. 예수께서 그를 달래서 마음과 행동을 가라앉게
했지요. 사회적으로 용납되지않고 소외된 사람을 자유케하심으로 하나님께서 바라시는대로
인간의 완전성을 되찾도록 하셨읍니다.

예수님은 우리를 부르셔서 이 세상에서 평화와 치유의 도구로 살아가기를 바라십니다.
하나님의 말씀을 전파하도록 하십시다.
“근본주의로부터 성서를 구하기( Rescuing the Bible from Fundamentalism)”란 책을 쓴 죤
스퐁 (John Spong)은 “우리가 예수의 능력을 경험한다는 것은 사랑과 생명의 능력을
경험하는 것”이라고 말했읍니다. 우리는 예수의 삶과 능력을 통해서 생명을 주시는 하나님의
사랑을 경험하게됩니다. 크리스챤이 된다는 것은 예수의 능력으로 자유한 삶을 산다는 것을
말합니다.

우리는 단순히 겉으로만 우리의 눈에 보이는 것을 넘어서 눈을 크게뜨고 봐야할것들을 바로
볼수있어야 할것입니다.
사랑, 자비, 돌봄을 생활하면서 실천하도록 하십시다.
서로를 이해하고, 받아들이며, 서로 나누는 삶을 사십시다.
정의를 실천하며,겸손히 하나님과 함께 걸어갑시다.
예수그리스도께서 주시는 능력으로 살도록 노력하십시다.
왜냐하면, 예수님께서는 오늘도 우리가 살고 있는 이 토론토에 오십니다.
