Title: Our Journey with Jesus to the cross
Scripture: Mark 11:7-11, 14:1-2, 10-11, 66-72, 15:1, 6-15, 22-24a, 34
1.Triumphal Entry. Hosanna!
We celebrate with joy the arrival of Jesus into Jerusalem. With Jesus, we feel the joy and
ecstasy of a new dawn.
We pause and reflect on the events of Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem; large crowds hoping
expectantly that Jesus their leader would ride to glory.
We look forward to working hard to change and save our world!
2. The plot to kill Jesus.
Chief priests, elders, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites and lawless, blind guides and fools
gathered and conspired to arrest Jesus by stealth and kill him.
3. Betrayal – Judas
We hold the bitterness of betrayal with heavy hearts. We grieve the loss of relationship that
betrayal can bring. With Jesus, we resist the urge for reprisal and score settling.
We pause and reflect on the coins paid to Judas, and the gutted, hollow feeling that Judas
must have felt. We reflect on what may have motivated Judas. We reflect on our own acts of
betrayal, large and small. We confess our self-motivations. We confess that in some things
we have had our own price. We confess our desire to control our world at the cost of others.
4. Denial —Peter
We hold the emptiness of denial with heavy hearts. We hold a bitter sense of broken
connectedness that comes with denial. We hold and feel the growing despair of this bitter
night. With Peter, we hear the rooster crow a third time.
We pause and reflect on the scene of Peter’s denial: accusing fingers pointed, shadows
moving around a night time fire, a foreign accent, gossiping temple workers. We reflect on
the experience of the fleeing disciples and the anguish of Peter.
We reflect on our own acts of denial, both large and small. We deny our role in upsetting the
balance of our fragile ecosystem. We have betrayed the sacred trust of humanity by
unsustainable living.
5. Injustice—Trial.
Our world is not always fair, our world is fixed on competitiveness, witn winners and losers.
Our world sees violence as the prime way of resolving conflict and difference. Toleration of
difference, of alternative worldviews, of cultural diversity; our world seems far from these
ideals.

We pause and reflect on the scene of Jesus’ trial and complicit temple authorities, and the
fickle nature of the gathered crowd.
We reflect on systemic injustice in our own time. Countries under brutal regimes, corrupt
government authorities, and fear tactics used by the powerful.
We confess our broken humanity, and shallow ego -driven power struggles, that comes at
great cost to people everywhere.
6. Crucify him!
All the chief priests and the elders of the people conferred together against Jesus in order to
bring about his death. They had handed Jesus over to Pilate out of jealousy.
These religious leaders stirred up the crowd to shout “Crucify him!”
We pause and reflect on the scene of Jesus’ humiliation and his physical torment. We
reflect on how the world goes about its business, immune from the cries of the oppressed.
We confess that we treat our fellow human beings through ignorance, silence, denial, and
betrayal.
7. Jesus on the cross and his death
We hear the sound of nails being driven into dark brown timber that once stood proud and
tall as a beautiful tree. We hear the cry of Jesus–” My God, why have you abandoned me?”–
and feel his agony.
We pause and reflect on the scene of Jesus’ death by crucifixion. Death brings separation,
but includes the journey of betrayal, denial, injustice, and mockery.
We reflect on our own journeys into the experience of loss and pain: loss we have felt deeply
in the past, loss that we carry each day, loss that we long to be healed.

1.예루살렘 입성. 호산나!
우리는 예수님의 예루살렘 입성을 축하하고 기뻐합니다. 예수님과 함께 새로운 여명이
트여옴을 열광합니다.
그가 예루살렘성을 향해 들어 가실때에 그가 영광의 자리에 오를것을 기대하며,
많은 군중이 환호했던 일을 회상해봅니다.
우리도 이세상을 변화시키고 아름답게하기위해서 열심히 일해야겠다는 결심을
하게됩니다.
2. 예수를 죽이려는 음모
대사제들, 장로들, 서기관들, 바리새인들, 이런 위선자들, 법을 무시하며 권력을 행사하는
자들, 눈이 먼 상태로 남을 인도한다고하는 이런 사람들이 함께 모여서 예수를 잡아죽일
음모를 꾸미고 있었읍니다.
3. 유다의 배반
우리는 예수의 제자였던 유다의 배반을 무거운 심정을 가지고 뼈아프게 생각해봅니다.
그의 배반이 가져오는 여러 관계의 상실을 슬퍼합니다. 예수를 팔아넘기기 위해 몰래 돈을
주고 받는 뒷거래를 규탄합니다.
유다가 받은 은전 30, 자기가 저지른 일에대한 죄책감, 그로 인한 뉘우침. 유다가
무슨동기로 그런 배반의 행동을 했는가를 생각합니다. 동시에 우리 자신들이 배반하는
여러가지 일들을 회상해봅니다. 우리의 동기는 무엇이었는가. 그런 배반의 결과는 과연
무엇이었던가. 남들을 이용하거나 배반한 댓가로 이 세상을 내 마음대로 해보려는 욕심을
고백합니다.
4. 베드로의 부인
있는 어떤사실을 부인할때에 우리가 갖게되는 텅 비고 쓰라린 마음을 생각해봅니다.
그렇게
부인함으로해서 결과적으로 우리는 지금까지 유지되어온 남들과의 관계가 깨어지는
쓰라린 경험들을 갖고있읍니다. 자기의 선생인 예수를 세 번씩이나 모른다고 부인했던
베드로가 지낸 그 밤의 쓰라린 경험과 좌절감을 우리도 느끼게됩니다.
비난하는 손가락질, 어두운 밤에 불을 쬐려고 모여 웅성거리는 무리들의 그림자, 예루살렘
주위에서 맴도는 헛소문들, 유대인들이 무서워 도망가 버린 예수의 제자들, 후회하며 눈물
흘리는 베드로 이런 여러가지 사람들의 모습과 행동들을 생각해봅니다.
형편과 상황에 따라서 수시로 부인하며 살아온 우리 삶의 모습을 되돌아 봅니다. 파괴되어
가는 자연환경에 대해서 대수럽지않게 부인하며 살아왔읍니다. 불안전한 삶의 여건때문에
인간 서로간의 신뢰관계 깨어져가는데도 별것 아닌것처럼 행동하며 살아왔읍니다.

5.불의한 재판
예수님에 대한 재판, 종교지도자들의 범죄, 선동에 따라 움직이는 무리들의 모습
을 생각해봅니다.
이 세상이 항상 공정하지만은 않아요. 많은 경우에 승자와 패자를 가르며, 엄청난 경쟁에
시달리면서 우리는 살아갑니다. 서로 다른 점이나 갈등이 생길때 주로 폭력을 사용해서
문제를 풀려고 하는 일이 허다하지요. 서로 다른 의견이나 견해, 문화나 전통의 다양성,
또는 다른 세계관등에 대해서 서로 인내하며 듣는다든지 합의점을 찾아보려는 노력을 많이
하지 않지요.
조직적인 불의, 통치자들이 폭력으로 자기 백성을 몰아세우는 나라들, 부패와 정권력을
강제로 행사하는 무리들을 많이 봅니다. 이기적인 권력다툼, 이로인한 백성들의 피해,
깨져가는 인간성의 슬픈 현상을 경험합니다.
6. 예수를 십자가에 못박아라!
많은 종교지도자들이 모여 예수를 잡아 죽일 흉계와 음모를 자행합니다. 자신들의 권력에
대한 위협과 질투에 근거해서 예수를 빌라도에게 넘깁니다. 그들은 군중을 선동해서 ”그를
십자가에 못박으시오!”를 외치게합니다.
예수가 받은 수치심과 괴롭힘을 생각하면서 동시에 온세계가 지금도 억압당하며 사는
사람들의 소리를 외면하면서 아무렇지도 않은것처럼 살아가는 현실을 아파합니다.
우리의 이웃을 무지, 무시,침묵, 외면, 부인, 혹은 배반 등으로 취급하며 살아가는 우리의
모습을 고백합니다.
7. 십자가에 달려서 죽으신 예수
예수님을 십자가에 달아매기위해 망치로 못을 박는 소리를 듣습니다. 예수님께서,
“나의 하나님, 나의 하나님, 어찌하여 나를 버리셨나이까?” 하며 부르짖는 소리를 들으면서
우리는 그의 아픔을 느낍니다.
십자가에 달려 죽으신 예수님. 죽음은 분리를 가져옵니다. 이는 또한 배반, 부인, 불의,
모욕을 내포합니다.
이 시간 상실과 고통을 경험하게되는 우리의 여정을 생각해봅니다. 과거에 이미 깊이
느꼈던
상실, 오늘도 매일 매일 체험하는 상실, 그리고 앞으로 치유되리라고 희망하는 상실들을
생각합니다.
오늘도 우리는 예수와 함께 십자가를 향한 여정을 계속합니다.
