올바른 선택
요나서 3:1-5,10 마가복음 1:14-20

Title: A Right Choice
Scripture:Jonah 3:1-5, 10 Mark 1:14-20
One day God said to Johah,
“Go to Nineveh and speak out against it.”
Nineveh was the capital city of Assyria, a foreigners’ city and enemies of Israel.
Jonah went in the opposite direction to get away from God. Why?
He thought that God would not carry out his threat to destroy the city. And also because of
his own fear of going to an enemy city in a foreign country and hatred against the city.
Even though he tried to avoid God’s mission assigned to him he had to face a very difficult
situation on his way to run away from God.
Later God gave him another chance:
“Go to Nineveh and proclaim to the people the message I have given you.”
People of Nineveh heard God’s voice through Jonah, believed God’s message, repented,
and put their belief into action.
God changed his mind and did not punish the people of Nineveh as he had said he would.
Jonah said, “ I knew that you are a loving and merciful God. You are always patient, kind,
ready to change your mind and not punish.”
We find the character of God:
-God’s persistence to bring Jonah to fulfill his command.
-God’s responsiveness to bring the action of the peo[ple in Nineveh. His merciful response to
themGod extends forgiveness to them.
-God’s universality– God’s power and mercy. God’s rule and grace extended to the Gentile
people are universal.
Jesus proclaimed the good news of God: “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and
believe in the good news.”
Jesus called Simon, Andrew, Jeames, and John and said, ”Follow me and I will make you
fishers of people. I will teach you to catch people.”
They left their nets and family. They followed him. None of them are called by virtue of their
own talents or excellences.
Like those disciples and Jonah who misunderstood God and failed Jesus at every turn, we
are in need of forgiveness for our multiple betrayals. Like them, we are called to a public
vocation. We are summoned by God to leave our parents’ house, abandoning self-interest
and security. Like them our inadequacy as followers will be transformed by grace. We are
called to a life of risk and insecurity. We give ourselves over to a new vision that challenges
the status quo.
We experience new ways of being and a new identity. We begin a new life. We want to be
led by the Spirit, and we will take not just faith but also courage.
Jesus wants us to be his team for his ministry.
Being called as an individual and Alpha KUC faith community means leaving the familiar
behind while moving toward the unknown. Following the way of Jesus means leaving behind
past ways of life and moving into a new future.
Following Jesus means a radical change of our life and change of our life’s ultimate priority,
choice, and loyalty.

어느 날 하나님께서 요나에게, “ 앗시리아의 수도 니느웨에 가서 그들의 죄악을 알려라.”
그런데 요나는 하나님의 기대와는 반대로 다른 곳으로 도망갔읍니다. 왜 그랬을까요?
첫째, 요나는 설마 하나님께서 그 큰 도시를 멸망시키실까?
둘째, 적국나라의 도시에 가는 것이 두려웠지요.
세째, 그 도시를 요나는 싫어했기 때문이었지요.
하나님께서 그에게 맡기신 사명을 피하려고 하다가 큰 위험에 부딫치기도 했읍니다.
그러나 하나님께서는 그에게 또 한번의 기회를 주었읍니다.
요나는 니느웨의 사람들에게 잘못된 길에서 돌아와 바르게 살아야된다고 회개를 외쳤지요.
그랬더니 그들이 잘못을 회개하고 나쁜행실을 모두 버렸읍니다. 그래서 하나님께서는 그
도시를 멸망시키지 않으셨읍니다. 요나는 말하기를 하나님은 사랑과 자비가 풍성하고,
인내하며, 친절해서 원래가지셨던 계획도 쉽게 바꾸신다고 했지요.
우리는 여기에서 하나님의 성품의 일면을 봅니다:
– 요나가 그의 명령을 수행할때까지 끈질기게 행동하심
– 하나님은 끝까지 니느웨 사람들이 회개하도록 만드심
– 회개하는 그들에게 자비와 용서를 베푸심
– 이방인들에게까지도 은혜를 베푸시는 포괄적인 성품
예수님은 하나님에관한 기쁜소식을 선포했읍니다 ”하나님의 나라가 가까이 왔으니 회개하고
이 기쁜소식을 믿으라.” 그리고는 시몬, 안드레, 야고보, 요한을 부르시면서, “나를 따르라.
내가 너희를 사람을 낚는 어부가 되게하겠다.” 고 하셨지요. 그러자 그들이 예수를 따랐는데,
그것은 이 사람들이 무슨 재능이나 특별한면이 있어서가 아니었읍니다.
하나님을 제대로 이해하지 못한 요나나, 예수님을 여러가지로 실망시킨 제자들처럼, 우리도
때때로 예수를 배반하며 살아온 일에 대해 용서를 구해야 할겁니다. 우리가 그들처럼 많은
사람들에게 복음을 전파하도록 부름을 받았읍니다. 자신의 이익이나 안전을 뛰어 넘도록
부름을 받았지요.
우리들이 부름받은 자들이라고 말할 때 그것은 우리가 부적절하고 부족하지만 하나님의
은혜로 변화를 받게되는것을 의미합니다. 때로는 위험을 감수해야 할 때도 있고, 안전하지
못한 상황에 처할 때도 있게 될겁니다. 그러나 우리는 주어진 현실에 아무런 변화없이 있는
현상 그대로 사는 것이 아니고, 새로운 비젼을 향해 살아가는 것입니다.
우리가 누구임을 새롭게 발견하는 경험을 하게되기를 원합니다. 우리는 믿음과 용기를
가지고 성령이 함께하심으로 전진하며 살기를 바랍니다.
예수님은 우리가 그의 선교를 위해 함께뛰는 팀의 멤버가 되기를 원하십니다.
우리가 개인으로나 알파교회의 성도로서 부름을 받았다는 사실은 무엇을 의미하나요?
그것은 지금까지 익숙해져 왔고, 습관적으로 해오던 삶의 모습을 벗어남을 의미합니다.
알 수는 없지만 우리 앞에 놓인 미래를 향해서 뚜벅 뚜벅 걸어가면서 예수를 따른다는 것을
말합니다.
예수를 따른다는 것은 우리 삶의 급격한 변화를 의미합니다.
우리 삶의 궁극적인 우선순위와 선택, 그리고 어디에 헌신할것인가에 대한 변화를
의미하지요.
하나님께서 무엇을 하라고 지금 여러분을 부르고 계십니까?
예수님께서 무엇때문에 오늘도 여러분을 부르신다고 생각하십니까?
올바른 선택을 하며 사십시다!
