Christian DNA
Scripture: Isaiah 61:10, 62:1 – 2 Luke 2:25 – 32
We are aware of the closing of this year and apprehensive of what a new year might bring.
It is time for cleaning up the leftovers and planning for a New Year.
During this year, 2023 we have experienced rapid changings, changing our situation and
generation locally and globally.
Changes in our ways of communication, patterns of business, human relationship,
community life, and also in Christian communities.
Through searching and testing DNA there is a possibility of removing disease elements.
There are efforts regarding how we can slow down or reverse the ageing process and live
younger, healthier lives for longer. In the near future we may not just be able to feel younger
but actually become younger.
Someone said,
We are young as our confidence, old as our fear;
We are young as our hope, old as our despair;
We are young as our faith, old as our doubt.
The sounds of the celebration of Christmas still ring in our ears and
the joy of which is still in our hearts.
The celebration of Christmas is an important new beginning in the life of humankind.
The babe of Bethlehem is to become God's Affirmation that the world will never be the
same.
God’s desire to be with God’s people in a new way by giving a new name, new status, and a
new identity.
Jesus was presented in the temple. His life was the life of obedience to the law of Moses.
Jesus was weak, young, unknown in the beginning but he still gives us strength.
We with Jesus' DNA are not without trouble, problem and conflict, but rather we have the
confidence that Jesus is here with us today and always.
Jesus has come to bring light and love to all people;
Jesus has come to be with us;
Jesus has come to comfort us;

Jesus has come to help us rejoice; and
Jesus has come to teach us to love.
We celebrate the gift of God given to us through the birth of Jesus.
Jesus can be born in our hearts today
through finding the lost and lonely one;
through healing the broken soul with love;
through feeding the hungry;
through freeing the prisoners from all chains;
through rebuilding the nations with strength of good will;
through bringing hope to every task we do; and
through bringing peace among people.
Jesus invites us to be his disciples,
to live our lives as fully as possible,
by investing them,
by risking, and
by expanding the horizons of our responsibilities.
We connect with each other not on the basis of strengths ,but in the very reality of our
shared weakness.
Shared weakness creates connectedness, a sense of common beginnings, and true
community.
Life confronts us with choices and opportunities. Each day we should start with a pause to
celebrate the opportunities it brings to us to live faithfully.
Let us live into our calling and trust that God is with us through our journey of ministry as
members of Alpha Korean U.C
Let us become bearers of God’s peace and love in the world.
God tells us today,
“You are precious in my sight, and honoured, and I love you. I have called you by name.
When you pass through the waters I’ll be with you. When you pass through the fire you’ll not
be burnt. I will save your life. You are mine.”(Isaiah 43:)
Expecting new year, 2024,
We rejoice that God’s word continues to hold promise and power in our lives, families, and
our church.
God calls each of you by name.
God continues to speak to you;
God draws near you;
God rejoices over you;
God invites you to a renewed relationship.
God speaks words of blessing and joy offering identity and sense of belonging to you .

God encourages you to continue your journey of ministry through the New Year.
God loves you all.

본문: 이사야 61:10, 62:1-2 누가복음 2: 25-32
오늘은 금년의 마지막 주일이고, 또 이 해의 마지막 날이기도합니다.
금년 한해동안 해보려고 마음먹었는데 하지 못한 일들이 있겠지요.
처리해야 할것들을 미쳐 정리하지못한 것들도 있으리라 생각합니다.
또한 내일부터 시작되는 새해를 어떻게 맞이하고 일년을 지낼것인지도 깊이 생각하고
계시리라 예상합니다.
2023년 한해동안 여러가지 변화들이 급속히 일어나기도 했고, 우리 주위의 상황들이
예상밖으로 달라졌으며, 세대간에도 많은 변화와 간격이 생겼읍니다.
의사소통, 통신하는 방법의 발전과 세분화, 사업분야와 그 구조의 변화, 인간관계가 복잡하게
얽히고 달라져가는 모습, 지역사회와 크리스챤 공동체도 예상치못하게 달라져가는것을
우리는 보고 경험하고 있읍니다.
과학분야에서도 끈질긴 유전연구와 새로운 발견으로 그동안 고민하던 여러 질병들의
원인들과 치료방법들을 찾아내기도 합니다.
우리의 몸이 노화되는 속도를 줄이거나, 보다 젊고 건강하게, 그리고 오래 사는 방법들을
찾으려고 많은 노력을 하고 있읍니다. 머지않아 우리는 젊게 느낄뿐 아니라, 실제로
젊어지게도 될겁니다.
누군가는 다음과 같이 말했읍니다.
우리는 확신을 갖는만큼 젊어지고 두려워하는 만큼 늙어 간다.
우리는 희망을 갖는 만큼 젊어지고 좌절하는 만큼 늙어간다.
우리는 믿음을 갖는만큼 젊어지고 의심하는 만큼 늙는다.
크리스마스를 축하하는 소리가 아직도 우리 귀에 쟁쟁합니다.
크리스마스의 기쁨이 아직도 우리마음에 가득차있읍니다.
크리스마스를 축하하는 일은 우리의 삶을 새롭게 시작하는데 매우 중요한 사건입니다.
베들레헴에서 탄생한 아기는 이 세상이 변화되어야한다는 하나님의 선언이 될것입니다.
하나님께서는 우리에게 새로운 이름, 새로운 자격, 그리고 우리가 누구임을 새롭게 인식하게
해주심으로 우리가 하나님의 새로운 백성이 되기를 바라십니다.

예수님이 어릴적에는 비록 연약하고, 알려지지 않았지만, 그의 생을 통해서 우리에게 많은
능력과 가능성을 주셨읍니다.
예수의 유전자를 지니고 있는 우리라고 아무 어려움이나 갈등이 없는것은 아닙니다.
그러나 예수님이 오늘 그리고 언제나 우리와 함께하시기에 어떤 어려움이나 갈등도 우리는
극복할수있다는 확신이 있읍니다.
예수님은 세상 모든 사람들에게 빛과 사랑을 주시려고 오셨읍니다.
예수님은 우리와 함께 하시려고 오셨지요.
예수님은 우리를 위로하시려고 오셨읍니다.
예수님은 우리에게 기쁨을 주시려고 오셨음을 우리는 앎니다.
예수님은 남을 사랑하는 일을 우리에게 가르치려고 오셨읍니다.
우리는 예수님의 탄생을 통해서 주시는 하나님의 선물을 감사하며, 축하합니다.
방황하거나 외로워하는 사람들을 통해서 예수님은 오늘도 우리가운데 다시 태어납니다.
상처받고 깨어진자들을 사랑으로 치유함으로써 예수님은 우리 가운데 다시태어나지요.
배고파하는 사람들에게 양식을 제공함으로 예수님은 오늘도 우리가운데 다시 태어납니다.
갇힌자들을 쇠사슬에서 풀어줄때, 예수님은 우리가운데 다시 태어나는것입니다.
좋은 뜻을 가진 힘으로 나라들을 재건할때, 예수님은 우리 가운데 다시 태어납니다.
우리가 희망을 갖고 무슨일이든 할때, 예수님은 오늘도 우리 가운데 다시 태어나실것입니다.
우리가 세상사람들에게 평화를 가져다줄때, 예수님은 우리가운데 다시 태어납니다.
예수님은,
-그의 제자가 되라고 여러분을 초대하십니다.
-성실하게 살라고 초대하십니다.
-위험도 감수하라고 초대하십니다.
-우리의 책임의 영역을 확대하라고 우리모두를 초대하십니다.
새해에도 하나님께서 우리 교회의 목회여정을 통해서 우리와 함께 하심을 믿으시길
바랍니다.
우리는 주어진 여건과 기회를 성실히 살리고, 바른선택을 하면서 살아갑시다.
하나님의 평화와 사랑을 전하며 사십시다.
하나님께서 여러분 모두를 여전히 사랑하십니다.
그리스도 안에서 평화를 누리시길 바랍니다. 아멘.
