하나님의 교통신호등

Title: God’s Traffic Lights
Scripture: Isaiah 64:1-9 Mark 13:24-37
Today marks the beginning of the season of Advent.
This is the first Sunday of Advent, the first day of our journey toward Christmas.
It is a time of preparation, a time of great anticipation, and a time of Hope.
The word “Advent” means “coming.” Advent is observed during the four weeks before
Christmas. These four weeks offer us a time to grow deeper in our faith and to reflect about
our relationships with God, others, and the world.
The candle of Hope reminds us of God’s promise that awaits us. It is an invitation for each of
us to dream of Immanuel- God with us. Let every voice proclaim this Hope!
Israel history can be described as a history of journey, a journey of suffering, a journey of
wilderness, and a journey of exile. Through their history we see Israel’s falling to Assuria,
being destroyed by Babylon, and the destruction of Jerusalem temple by the Roman Empire.
Even now they are struggling to find their identity, to keep their security, and to have hope.
We hear them crying, “ Where are you, God?”.
They had believed that God fought for them against their enemies.
They believed that they were a chosen people.
They believed that God dwelled in Jerusalem.
Israel people believed that God could hear their prayers.
They also believed that they had a destiny and future.
But, no longer and not any more, so they shouted, “God, we need your help! “
It is often in our darkest times that God makes his presence known most clearly.
God uses our sufferings and troubles to show us that he is our only source of strength.
The destruction of the temple was a major turning point in Jewish and Christian history.
For Christians the coming of the Son of Man in glory replaces the temple. He gives us hope
for the full realization of the Kingdom of God. Hope, the divine power makes us alive in this
world.

God in Christ is coming . We can have hope despite all that is falling apart in our lives, our
communities, and the world around us. God’s word in Jesus promises us new life and new
hope. We have hope with a vision of the future. Our hope will bring change, the green light
that God gives us.

오늘은 강림절계절이 시작하는 날입니다. 강림절 첫주일로서 크리스마스를 향해가는 우리
여정의 첫날이지요. 준비하고, 기다리며, 희망을 갖는 시간입니다.
강림은 주님오심을 의미하며, 크리스마스 전까지 4주동안 계속됩니다. 이 기간은 우리가
신앙적으로 더 깊어지고, 우리와 하나님, 이웃, 그리고 이 세상과의 관계에 대해서 생각해보는
때입니다.
희망의 촛불은 우리로 하여금 하나님의 약속을 기억하며 생각하게합니다. 이것은 우리와
함께하시는 하나님을 바라며 꿈꾸게하시는 하나의 초대입니다. 우리 모두 이 희망을 힘차게
외쳐보십시다!
이스라엘의 역사는 여정의 역사, 고통의 역사, 광야의 역사, 그리고 탈출의 역사라고 할수
있읍니다. 그들의 역사를 살펴보면, 앗수리아에게 멸망당하고, 바벨론 나라에게 망했고,
로마에 의해 예루살렘성전이 파괴되었읍니다. 지금도 그들은 자신들의 정체성을 찾으려고
노력하며, 그들의 안전을 지키려고 애쓰고 있고, 또한 희망을 갖고 살기를 원합니다.
“ 하나님, 어디에 계십니까?”하면서 그들은 지금도 외칩니다.
그들은 하나님이 그들의 원수들과 대항해서 싸워주기를 바랬읍니다.
그들은 자신들이 선택된 백성이라고 믿었읍니다.
그들은 하나님이 예루살렘에 계신다고 믿었읍니다.
이스라엘 사람들은 하나님이 자기들의 기도를 들으신다고 믿었읍니다.
그들은 또한 자신들에게 목적과 미래가 있다고 믿었읍니다.
그런데, 더 이상 그렇지 않음을 깨닫고 ,”하나님, 우리를 도와 주세요!”하고 외칩니다.
이따금 우리는 가장 어려운 상황에 처해서야 비로서 하나님의 임재를 깨닫기도 합니다.
하나님께서는 우리가 어려운 상황에 처했을때 그가 우리의 유일한 힘이되심을
알게해 주시기도 합니다.

예루살렘 성전이 파괴되었을때에 이스라엘과 크리스챤 시이의 역사에 중요한 갈림과 전환이
이루어졌읍니다. 크리스챤들에게는 예수님의 오심이 성전을 대신했읍니다. 그는
하나님나라가 완전히 이루어지는 희망을 우리에게 주었읍니다. 그가 주시는 희망은 우리가
이세상에서 살아가게하는 하나님의 능력이었읍니다.
하나님께서 그리스도를 통해 오십니다. 우리 자신이나, 우리가 속해있는 공동체, 그리고 이
세상이 어렵더라도 우리는 희망을 가질수 있읍니다. 그리스도를 통해 주시는 하나님의
말씀은 우리에게 새삶과 새로운 희망을 주십니다. 우리는 미래의 비젼에대한 희망이
있읍니다. 하나님께서는 우리에게 청신호, 즉 변화의 희망을 주십니다.
