Title: Here I am! God. Send me!
Scripture: Isaiah 6:1, 5-8 John 3:1-3, 5, 14-17
Who is God for you? Which God do you believe in?
Let’s see some of the stories about God in the Bible.
1. God called Abaham and his wife Sarah.
-God blessed them with promise and covenant
-They were able to start a new life and a new journey with God.
-God does not allow us to keep and remain the status quo.
-God challenges us for a new vision and leads us to a new journey.
2. God persuaded Moses to be a leader for their people.
-Through Moses God gave Israel people freedom from their slavery life in Egypt.
-They were able to cross the Red Sea and were provided with water and food during
their journey through the wilderness for 40 years.
3. God also called prophets and leaders
– Through those leaders and prophets God brought the Israel people back from their
slavery in Babylon.
-God provided them ways to live and led them to the right direction for their life.
God loves people around the world. God tries to tell people about his love through Jesus’
life and mission. God also wants to have a right relationship with people.
Jesus proclaimed God’s love and mercy. He healed the sick and tried to be with those who
were isolated and discriminated. Jesus encouraged people to live a life of love and sharing
and called workers and volunteers to work with him for his ministry.
At the same time he challenged those who were greedy and doing evil things.
What does our God do for us in this world?
Laurence Hill, in his book, The Book of Negroes, describes the life of Aminata who lived in
West Africa. At the age of 11 she was kidnapped to South Carolina as a slave and she
became a refugee in Nova Scotia. Aminata continues to work hard to be a free person.
Even through her difficult life journey God continues to work for our human dignity and
freedom.
In Canada we experience God’s work through the process of Truth and Reconciliation
for the living in the Right Relationship between Indigenous people and the rest of Canadians.

Why does God do these things through various events? Because our God loves us very
much whoever we are and wherever we live.
Sometimes we think that it is not easy to work for God, to follow God , and to do what God
expects us to accomplish. However, God encourages us and provides strength to continue
what God plans.
In John 3:1-17, Jesus speaks of coming into relationship with God through rebirth in the
Spirit. Nicodemus has trouble understanding Jesus’ description of God’s transforming Spirit.
God invites us into relationships and calls us to lives of purpose and service. We respond
with awe, celebrating the wonder of God’s presence in our lives.
God asked Moses to lead his people but Moses’ reaction was negative.
Then God said to Moses, “I will be with you.”
“ Whom shall I send and who will go for us?” Upon hearing God asking who will go to the
people on God’s behalf, Isaiah exclaims, “Here am I, send me!”
Isaiah is transformed from being gripped by fear into taking autonomous action.
God speaks to us everyday, only we do not know how to listen. “Are you listening?”
God calls out,
“ I need a messenger.
I need someone to tell the people about me.
I need someone to help people learn to listen.
Who will be my nessenger?”
Will our response be,
“Here I am, God. Send me!”

하나님은 여러분에게 어떤 분인가요? 어떤 하나님을 믿으세요?
성서에 나오는 하나님의 대한 이야기들을 살펴 보십시다.
1.하나님께서 아브라함과 아내 사라를 부르셨읍니다
-약속과 계약으로 그들을 축복하셨읍니다
-그들은 새로운 삶과 여정을 하나님과 함께 시작할수 있었읍니다
-하나님은 그들을 있는 상태로 그냥 놔두지 않으셨읍니다.
-하나님은 새로운 비젼을 주시며 새 여정으로 그들을 인도하셨읍니다.
2. 하나님은 모세를 불러 그의 백성을 인도하는 지도자가 되라고 설득하셨지요.
-하나님은 모세를 통해서 이스라앨 백성들에게 애굽에서의 노예생활로부터 자유를
주셨읍니다.
-그들은 홍해를 건널수 있었고, 광야생활 40년동안 먹을 물과 양식을
제공받았읍니다.
3. 하나님은 예언자들과 지도자들을 부르셨읍니다.
-예언자들과 지도자들을 통해서 나라를 이끌게 하시며, 바벨론 포로생활로부터
그들을 구하셨읍니다.
-하나님은 그들에게 살길을 열어주시고 바른 길로 인도하셨읍니다.
하나님은 세상 사람들을 사랑하십니다. 예수님의 삶과 선교를 통해서 자신의 사랑을
세상에 알립니다. 사람들과 바른 관계를 갖기 원하십니다.
예수님은 하나님의 사랑과 자비를 선포하지요. 아픈사람들을 치유하시며, 소외되고
차별받는 사람들과 함께 하십니다. 서로 사랑하고 나누는 삶을 살라고 격려하지요. 그는
또한 그와 함께 일할 사람들을 부르십니다.
동시에 욕심부리며 악한일을 일삶는 사람들에게는 도전하십니다.
지금 이세상에서 하나님은 무엇을 하고 계십니까?
로렌스 힐은 그의 책, “니그로들의 책” 에서 아프리카 서부에 살던 아미나타의 삶을
묘사합니다. 그 소녀는 11살에 캐롤라이나 남부에 노예로 납치당했읍니다. 그 후에
노바스코시아에 난민으로 왔으며, 자유인으로 살려고 애씁니다.
그녀의 어려운 삶의 여정을 통해서도 하나님은 인간의 존엄성과 자유를 위해 일을
계속하십니다.
우리가 살고 있는 캐나다에서는 진실과 화해의 과정을 통해서 원주민들과 나머지 캐나다의
사람들 사이에 바른 인간관계를 갖고 살도록 하시는 하나님의 활동을 우리는 경험하고
있읍니다.

하나님은 왜 이러한 일들을 하시는가요? 그것은 하나님께서는 우리가 누구이든, 어디에
살고 있든간에 우리 모두를 너무나 사랑하시기 때문이지요.
하나님을 위해 일한다든지, 그를 따르는일, 그리고 그가 우리에게 기대하시는 일들을
한다는것이 쉽지않다고 우리는 이따금 생각합니다. 그런데 하나님은 그의 계획하신일을
진행하시려고 우리를 격려하시며 힘을 주시지요.
요한복음 3장에보면, 예수님께서 유대 지도자의 한 사람인 니고데모에게 성령으로 새롭게
태어나는 경험을 통해서 하나님과 관계를 갖게된다는 것을 말하십니다. 물론 니고데모는
우리를 새롭게하시는 하나님의 성령의 활동에 대해 잘 이해하지 못했읍니다.
하나님은 목적과 섬김이 있는 삶을 위해 우리를 부르시며 우리와 관계를 맺기 원하십니다.
하나님이 모세를 불러서 그의 백성을 인도하라고 하실때에 모세의 반응은 부정적이었지요.
그런데 하나님께서 “내가 너와 함께 하리라.”고 말씀하셨지요.
“내가 누구를 보내며 누가 우리를 위해 갈수 있을까?” 라고 하나님께서 물으실때에
이사야는,
“제가 여기 있읍니다. 저를 보내십시오! ” 라고 대답했지요. 그는 두려움에 사로 잡혀있다가
용기있는 행동을 보이는 변화를 하게되었읍니다.
하나님께서 매일 우리에게 말씀하시는데, 우리는 어떻게 들어야하는지 잘 모릅니다.
“너는 듣고 있느냐?”
하나님께서 말씀하십니다.
“ 나의 말을 대신할 대변인이 필요하다.
세상 사람들에게 나에 대해 말해줄 사람이 필요하다.
이 세상 사람들이 바로 듣게 하도록 도와줄 사람이 필요하다.
누가 나의 메신저가 되어 줄것인가?”
“제가 여기 있읍니다. 하나님. 저를 보내십시요!”
이 말이 우리의 반응이 될까요?
