Title: Everyday is a family and a mother’s day
Scripture:John 17: 6-11, 17-19
We call today Mother's Sunday or Christian Family Sunday.
Some school- age children were given questions about mothers. Here are some answers by
them:
1. Why did God make mothers?
– She is the only one who knows where my socks are.
– Mostly to clean the house.
2. Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?
– God knows she likes me a lot more than other people’s moms like me.
3. What kind of little girl was your mom?
– I don’t know because I wasn’t there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
4. How did your mom meet your dad?
– Mom was working in a store and dad was shoplifting.
5. Why did your mom marry your dad?
–My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my mom eats a lot.
6. What’s the difference between moms and dads?
–Moms work at work and work at home, and dads just got to work at work.
–Dads are taller and stronger, but moms have all the real power because that’s who
you ask if you want to sleep over at your friend’s.
Not very long ago, several newspapers carried stories about children who went to court to
divorce their parents. These children said that their home life was so terrible that they would
be better off without their parents.
This certainly is not the way God wanted family life to be. When he created the world, God
blessed the living creatures and told them to increase in number and fill the Earth. He made
Adam and Eve in his own image and planned for them to live together in love and have
children.
We sometimes hear and see our families seem to be full of anger and hurt. But we know that
is not how God intended family life to be. God gave us the power to love and obey our
parents. Through Jesus we can have the kind of family life that God intended for us.
Our parents never stop loving and protecting us every day through the year. This special day
is a time when we give thanks to our mothers, fathers, and families expressing our love and
thanks to them.
Let’s celebrate our parents – mothers and fathers – with an extra special treat, because they
are the most wonderful and caring persons.

God has given us different gifts and abilities to help us in our family life.
God challenges us to be more faithful family members.
What can you do for your family, church family with your gifts and abilities?
Jesus prays to God to keep and protect us for unity.
We are called to a living faith in the world and for this we must be one.

본문: 요한복음 17: 6-11, 17-19
우리는 오늘을 어머니주일 또는 크리스챤가정 주일이라고 합니다.
어느 초등학교 연령의 어린이들에게 어머니에대한 질문들을 했더니 다음과 같은 대답들이
나왔읍니다.
1. 하나님은 왜 어머니들을 만드셨을까요?
–내 양말이 어디 있는가를 아는 사람은 어머니 뿐 이니까요.
–대부분의 집안 청소는 어머니 담당
2. 왜 하나님께서는 다른 어머니대신에 어린이의 어머니를 어린이에게 주셨을까요?
—다른 어머니들보다 내 어머니가 나를 더 좋아하신다는 것을 하나님은 아시니까.
3. 어머니가 어렸을때는 어떤 소녀였을까요?
—그 때에는 내가 태어나지 않았으니까 잘 모르지만, 아마도 꽤 대장노릇했을거에요.
4. 어머니가 어떻게 아빠를 만났어요?
–어머니가 일하고 있던 상점에서 아빠가 물건을 훔치다가 만났대요.
5. 어머니가 왜 아빠랑 결혼했대요?
—우리 아빠는 세계에서 스파게티를 가장 잘 만들고 엄마는 아빠가 만든 음식을 너무
좋아해서요.
6. 엄마와 아빠의 다른점은 무엇이예요?
—엄마는 직장에서도 집에서도 일하는데, 아빠는 직장에서만 일해요.
— 아빠는 키가 크고 힘이 있지만, 엄마는 진짜 모든 힘을 갖고 있어요.
왜냐하면 친구집에 가서 자고 싶으면 엄마에게 물어봐야 하거든요.
얼마전에 여러 신문에 난 기사를 보니까 어린이들이 부모들과 이혼하려고 법정에 갔다는
거예요. 어린이들이 말하기를 자기들이 집에서 부모와 함께 살기가 너무도 지겹다는 겁니다.
그래서 차라리 부모없는데서 사는 것이 났겠다고 말하는 것입니다.
이것은 분명히 하나님께서 원하시는 가정의 삶의 모습이 아니지요. 하나님께서 세상을
만드셨을때, 그는 모든 생물을 축복하시며, 번성해서 온 세상을 가득 채우라고 하셨지요.
하나님 자신의 형상대로 아담과 이브을 만드시고는 서로 사랑하며 자녀들을 낳고 함께
살기를 기대하셨지요.

우리는 이따금 여러 가정에서 서로 화를 내고 상처를 주며 살아간다는 소식과 이야기들을
듣기도 합니다. 이런 모습은 하나님께서 의도하신 가정의 모습이 아니지요.
하나님께서는 부모에게 순종하며 사랑하는 능력을 우리에게 주셨습니다.
우리의 부모는 언제나 우리를 사랑하시고 보호해 주십니다. 오늘 이 특별한 날은
우리의 어머니, 아버지, 그리고 가족들에게 우리의 사랑을 보여드리고 감사를 표시하는
날입니다.
우리 부모님들이 보여주신 놀라운 사랑과 아끼고 보살펴주심을 축하드립시다.
하나님께서는 우리 가정삶에 필요한 여러가지 선물들과 능력을 우리에게 주셨읍니다.
하나님은 보다 성실한 가정의 식구가 되라고 우리를 격려하시며 촉구하십니다.
여러분의 가정과 교회라는 가정을 위해서 여러분에게 주어진 능력과 재능을 가지고 무엇을
어떻게 하실려고 하십니까?
예수님은 우리가 하나가 되도록 우리를 지키시며, 보호하시려고 하나님께 기도하십니다.
우리 모두는 살아움직이는 신앙을 가지고 이 세상에서 살아가며, 하나가 되도록 부름을
받았읍니다.
