<만물아 감사 찬송부르자>
이 찬양곡은 ‘캐서린 데이비스( Katherine Kennicott Davis 1892-1980)’ 가 작곡한 곡으로 원 제목은 ‘Let All Things Now Living’입니다.
그녀는 미국 미주리주에서 1892년에 태어나 Wellesley College에서 음악을 전공하였고 1980년 세상을 떠나기 전까지 많은 교회음악과 기악곡들을 남겼습니다.
그녀의 대표곡으로는 우리가 성탄절에 많이 부르고 있는 1941년에 작곡한 캐롤 북치는 소년 “The Little Drummer Boy”가 있습니다.
찬양곡 ‘Let All Things Now Living’ 은 원래 Welsh의 민속 음악인 ‘The Ash Grove’ 의 멜로디를 사용하여 추수 감사절 찬송가로 작곡한 곡으로 ‘The Little Drummer Boy’ 다음으로 잘 알려진 그녀의 찬송가입니다.

The ash grove, how graceful, how plainly 'tis speaking
The harp (or wind) through it playing has language for me.
Whenever its branches the sunlight is breaking,
A host of kind faces is gazing on me.
The friends of my childhood again are before me
Each step wakes a memory as freely I roam.
With soft whispers laden the leaves rustle o'er me
The ash grove, the ash grove alone (again) is my home.  

Down yonder green valley where streamlets meander
When twilight is fading I pensively rove
Or at the bright noontide in solitude wander
Amid the dark shades of the lonely ash grove.
'Twas there while the blackbird was cheerfully singing
I first met that dear one, the joy of my heart
Around us for gladness the bluebells were ringing
But then little thought I how soon we should part.  

My lips smile no more, my heart loses its lightness;
No dream of the future my spirit can cheer.
I only can brood on the past and its brightness
The dear ones I long for again gather here.
From ev'ry dark nook they press forward to meet me;
I lift up my eyes to the broad leafy dome,
And others are there, looking downward to greet me
The ash grove, the ash grove, again is my home.

Let all things now living a song of thanksgiving
To God the Creator triumphantly raise,
Who fashioned and made us, protected and stayed us,
Who guideth us on to the end of our days.
His banners are o’er us, His light goes before us,
A pillar of fire shining forth in the night,
‘Til shadows have vanished and darkness is banished,
As forward we travel from light into light. 

His law He enforces: the stars in their courses,
The sun in His orbit, obediently shine;
The hills and the mountains, the rivers and fountains,
The deeps of the ocean proclaim Him divine,
We too should be voicing our love and rejoicing,
With glad adoration a song let us raise,
‘Til all things now living unite in thanksgiving
